INTROLOG_01

DAY ONE | THE ARRIVAL.

OPTION A | STARTING FRESH.
You wake up, wet and bruised, in the water.

You don't recall falling, but you recall a flash of bright light, and the next thing you know you're washing up on the shoreline. You can see two moons and a planet or two in the sky. It's a surprising sight; just as surprising is the fact that you're not alone.

Abovehead is a slash of oscillating lights that flash painfully bright from moment to moment - and you get to witness a silhouette or two getting spit out of the lights, falling into the waters with a loud splash.

No one is hauling you off your feet, but you do see a small crowd of teenagers forming around you, looking at you warily as they hold out makeshift weapons. When they realize you're awake, they start calling for someone called Navigator - and one such person appears, gives you a cursory check-up before healing what wounds you may have.

In a terse voice, they tell you: "You are currently in Caius Allied Territory. Welcome to Alexandrina."

After that, they shove a dry towel at you and point you in the direction of the others who've washed up on the shore; shower tents have been set up while shuttles idle nearby, waiting for you to board. It's not the warmest welcome, but it's something.

You're now in Alexandrina, and we hope you enjoy your stay.

OPTION B | TEST DRIVE AS CANON.
You wake up to the sound of the sea crashing gently on the shore - and the odd yell or two as people fall from the sky. Up you get, the man knocking on your door shouts out. Time to get the new kids out of the water.

They give you towels and med kits to take along with you, before leading you own to the beach where figures fall into the water — and you see with your own eyes how the figures' descent slows for a heartbeat, just before hitting the water, almost as if gravity itself is rejecting them.

Curious, isn't it? Better get to work though, before the children start poking holes on the ones that have already washed up to shore.

DAY TWO (A) | IT'S RAINING... CRYSTALS?

It starts with a few droplets, and then it's suddenly pouring in sheets. The rain is fairly pedestrian at first, just plain water soaking into everything, but then it starts to get a little warmer, warmer still... and then it's raining crystals along with the water. Crystals in many colors, glittering and glimmering as they fall from the sky. The locals have baskets set out to catch the downpour, and some of them are inviting you to do the same, because the rain doesn't seem like it'll last for very long.

These crystals are used by the locals as portable fuel. Go ahead and collect some loot; these crystals may come in really handy soon...

DAY TWO (B) | BLAST FROM THE PAST.

...And by soon we mean really soon.

The 409 is a mishmash of technology. Some of the tech, like the hoverbikes and the medical kits, indicate to a far more advanced level of research and tech development. On the other hand, there are twenty-first century cars with wheels, and antiquated communication tools. What's up with that?

Poverty. That's what's up.

Dark economic humor aside, the reason behind the 409's prevalent low fidelity technology really is a matter of a lack of resources - Hypatia Holdings only funds its rescue fleet and its health care, but little else. Most of the development in the area has gone to setting up defenses against the rift. The inter-settlement commerce is thriving, certainly, but there's only so much of the more up-to-date resources to go around and importing from Pycchis tend to cost an arm and a leg. Hence: the wheeled cars and jet-propelled bikes, among the many anachronistic things that are still up and running in the 409.

The locals still use the vehicles to get around, but a good number of them are in great need of repair. They're offering the new arrivals personal items to trade for fixing the vehicles. Do you want some star-shaped fruit? A hand-sewn shirt or two? Maybe you want a helmet, or a pair of boots. The locals are open to trading if you'll help them fix their meager vehicles. You could even use those collected crystals from earlier to power up the vehicles, take them around for a test drive.

Do a good deed today, and earn yourself a good dinner.

DAY THREE | SAY GOODBYE TO THE 409.

The settlement is in a mess.

The 409 is a bustling little settlement - there's a flourishing market, a healthy community, and a fairly peaceful relationship with the Satellite Embassy and the Caians who live there. Generally speaking, the 409 is a good place to live in Alexandrina. Tonight is an exception, however, because sometime during lights out someone - a bunch of someones - start blasting holes through the thin walls of the local cottages. The small crowd moves through the settlement fast; by the time the settlers are up and about to check the noise and the damage, the perpetrators have moved on.

Walls are blasted through, and the ones left undamaged are vandalized with glowing tags in rude Caian slang. On some walls, MIND YOUR OWN is written over and over, in large block letters. Stalls and their wares have been upended and strewn across the streets. Children are woken up, crying, and the elders get to the business of cleaning up with a resigned attitude. The message is clear: the Terrans aren't welcome.

What kind of life do these people lead in this place?

You don't get to ask your questions just yet. According to the Head Navigator, everyone's to move north, and everyone's got a few days to salvage what they can from the mess. Easier to leave for somewhere quieter than to rebuild where their efforts will be torn back down again, they say.

Looks like you've got a lot of lifting to do.

OPTION A | GET GOSSIPY. While helping the settlers get their affairs in order, you ask around about the general climate of the settlements. Does this kind of attack happen often? Do people get harassed like this outside of the settlements? You get a feel for how these people live, and it doesn't paint a nice picture.

OPTION B | INVESTIGATE THE MESS. You ask around - but not about what's happening. Did the locals see who was responsible? Did they hear anything before the walls were punched through? You're a nosybody and it makes the settlers a little uncomfortable, but they're not shying away from the questions either.

OOC NOTES.

It is primitive; that's another word for it, but it's not the word that Victra chose for a reason. She means exactly what she says: there is a charm to it. But most charming things are useless when push comes to shove. It's a toy. They need better.

"Don't worry. I won't put your name on anything nasty I do," she says. "But why should we care if they're angry with us or not? You think they brought us here and expect us to be grand with that?"
bye_felicia: (v44)

[personal profile] bye_felicia 2018-08-16 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
No, you'll spoil it yourself.

[ Here's the thing: Victra's New Money in an Old Money world. Her family has had to work to get where it is. Work, granted, by climbing over the backs of those less fortunate than they, but work of a sort anyway. She understands that you get more flies with honey rather than vinegar.

But she hates it. She hates pretending. She refuses to lie. So what she sees in him, besides a terrible attitude that's going to shoot him in the foot, is a sliver of herself.

Small, uglier sliver of herself, but something nonetheless. ]

I'll give you a day's ration per question of mine you answer. You can take it or leave it. [ And it's no skin off her back if he leaves it, that's clear. ]
glitchinthesystem: (Are you sure that's legal)

Wow, Victra pulls no punches in remarking on people's looks.

[personal profile] glitchinthesystem 2018-08-16 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Maybe, but if she thought he had the intention of staying in this cramped place with all these people she had been wrong. He had planned, once he had food to try and find a way to leave. Where? He's not sure. Maybe to the end of this dream, back to the dome. Somewhere, anywhere that wasn't surrounded with a bunch of strangers.

However, now this is intriguing. Rations for answers. Now to maybe just about anyone it sounded like a good deal, but to Glitch, he's way too suspicious. He's already thinking why she would offer such a thing? To figure out who he is? What he can do? To find something to use against him?

Likely all true. However, it does seem like a double edge sword. Who's to say he'll tell the truth? He's good at hiding things, at least when he wants to.

So he shrugs; ]

Fine, fair deal. Ask away.
glitchinthesystem: (holy shit what)

[personal profile] glitchinthesystem 2018-08-16 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Sure, maybe they wouldn't. If he told them the truth. Maybe he'd lie about it and get a good price at saying it's some kind of food producer.

Who knows.

All he knows is he needs to keep moving. He makes a duck through a larger tent, looking back and thinking he had finally lost the guy. When he turns to look ahead, that's definitely not the case. The guy beat him to the corner and Glitch all but skids to a stop two feet from them. ]

Shit!

[ He makes a go to duck around them, but even he knows that the only way he's avoiding this guy is if He is quicker and just a little luckier than the man.

Which he might not. ]
bye_felicia: (Default)

Look, everyone's uglier than her.

[personal profile] bye_felicia 2018-08-16 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's inevitable that she's going to waste some rations here. But Victra doesn't care. It's not like she wants more of the dismal food they're being fed. She's used to living on short supply, just as she's used to dining on soups of hummingbird tongues. Not that she won't grouse about the quality when it's given to her, because she's certainly not happy about it, but she'll live. She knows she will. ]

Name.

[ And, fair and square, she holds up one ration. She's not going to try to combine two questions into one. ]
glitchinthesystem: (my eye on you)

he'd beg to differ

[personal profile] glitchinthesystem 2018-08-16 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[ A simple question. A simple answer in return; ]

Glitch.

[ And he'll take that ration quickly before she changes her mind and stuff it in his bag. Arms folded, he quirks his brow at her; ]

Next.
bye_felicia: (Default)

rude boi

[personal profile] bye_felicia 2018-08-16 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She likes him, but at this point she doesn't let it show. She looks bored, for the most part, but there's no denying the way her golden eyes are fixed on him. ]

What's home like?

[ A more open-ended question and she's sure this is gonna be another wasted ration, too. ]
kanyounot: (016)

[personal profile] kanyounot 2018-08-17 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Kanan sizes up the young-looking woman for a moment, then waves his hand at the people milling about, conducting business.

"These are not the people who brought us here. But they are people who can make things difficult for us while we're stuck here, if we manage to alienate them."
kanyounot: (020)

[personal profile] kanyounot 2018-08-17 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ He might not be, it's true. Kanan is fast, and he doesn't need luck when he's got the Force on his side - he's going to make a grab for the kid, to try and collar him - literally, grabbing at the collar of his shirt to keep him from running again. ]

I'm serious. Give it up.
glitchinthesystem: (hmmm)

truth boi

[personal profile] glitchinthesystem 2018-08-17 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ It definitely would be because, how does he even answer that? Asking for specifics would cost her another question so he's going to give her a simple answer. ]

More dome like. Definitely not this.

[ aaaand he'll be taking his second ration, thaaaank you. ]
glitchinthesystem: (Oh not good)

[personal profile] glitchinthesystem 2018-08-17 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
[ Here's the thing about chases; don't wear hoodies. It gives the chaser a little bit of something extra to grab onto when you're running.

And he feels a hand grab around the hood and he lets out a croaking gasp. He may just give into the force, only because he didn't want the hood tearing right out of it's seams. It was the one important thing he had right now and no stupid whatever he took was worth that.

So he buckles and falls back onto his ass, the man's prey caught. The boy's look is sour, clearly annoyed at being caught and the near damage to his clothes. Finally, he just huffs and hurls the cylinder at the guy;]

Here. Now can I go? Or are you wanting to thrash me a bit? [ If it was the second well...he's not about to take that lying down. ]
kanyounot: (017)

[personal profile] kanyounot 2018-08-17 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ Kanan lets go of the hoodie as soon as the kid comes to a stop and the fight goes out of him - obviously with no intention of hurting him.

He catches the hilt easily - as if he saw it coming before Glitch even threw it - and hooks it back onto his belt. ]

Thrash you? Why would I do that? Just don't take people's things, kid. It's not a difficult concept to grasp. If you're really that hard-up for credits or food, just ask.
glitchinthesystem: (Are you sure that's legal)

[personal profile] glitchinthesystem 2018-08-17 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ Well, at least he didn't have to risk getting punched out as he starts getting up, but come on; Just ask? Pfft. The concept is ludicrous to him the way he scoffs it off.

He's already dusting off his already worn looking clothes with an annoyed look. If this guy did pop one of the stitches on his hood, he'd best expect a good kick for it. ]

'Cause normally people don't like it when you take their garbage. And as for ask?
[ This time he gives the goatee'd man a withering look. ]

What cracked dome did you crawl out of, old man? I'm not up for being anyone's personal slave or trading what I got left for some shit that's barely even equal to it.

kanyounot: (019)

[personal profile] kanyounot 2018-08-17 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
You'd be surprised.

[ He rolls his eyes. ]

Besides, despite being kidnapped here, it's not like they're starving us. Or are you actually having trouble finding food?
poisonpetals: (disappoint)

[personal profile] poisonpetals 2018-08-17 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
{ THE ARRIVAL [A] }

[ Alexandria? ]

What the heck is an Alexandria?

[ Maggie didn't appreciate waking up all wet and bruised, having weapons shoved in her face, and then being told that she's woken up in an unknown place in an unknown system to her. Though, she did appreciate the towel but it didn't do much for her hair which now has a flat, wavy shape to it which makes her feel like seaweed or swamp plants than the usual beautiful goddess she sees herself as. They are certainly going to give her curlers or something because this is just unforgivable.

When she is ushered to the shore, Maggie cringes in pain ever so slightly as the bruises are making themselves known now. It's honestly a miracle that her makeup is still in tact. She huffs. ]

This sucks...

[ Getting to shore, Maggie looks on. Shower tents? What is the point in showering if she doesn't have an alternate outfit? She pushes her hair back, an exhausted sigh falling from her lips. Whatever. She could deal with this. Hopefully, with the sun shining down so brightly, she will dry quicker. Maggie doesn't know who's who so she just goes up to the first person she could find. ]

Hellllooo? You work with this whole operation, right? I need curlers and a change of clothes - stat.

{ IT'S RAINING...CRYSTALS? }

[ Maggie has a love-hate relationship with rain. She loves it as an experienced gardener and how it helps the plants grow, but she also hates it as it ruins her hair. Though, this rain is certainly different. Very, very, very different! Maggie's eyes absolutely light up when she sees that it is not hail but crystals raining from the sky! ]

Oh my TITAN!

[ Maggie is handed a basket but she doesn't stick around for an explanation. The only thoughts that seem to be running through her head is how she is going to collect as many as she can. Maggie places the basket on top of her head before she runs out into the miracle she is witnessing, a satisfied smile on her face as she feels them fall into the basket. Her excitement is apparent as she looks towards the closest person, her eyes alight. ]

Can you believe this?! This is amazing! If you don't want your crystals, can I have them?

{ BLAST FROM THE PAST }

[ Maggie's definition of help isn't exactly the same as other people's.

She is mainly attracted to the wheeled vehicles because she has never seen anything like it before! Hoverbikes were pretty meh but vehicles with wheels is amazing. She didn't even know what wheels were until she is told what it is. Though, she is then asked to help and Maggie says yes just for a chance to get a closer look at the round technology. And there is also the fact that she was going to get something else out of it as well. So, she stays on the side and only hands tools to the real mechanics as she just watches.

While everyone else takes a break soon afterwards, Maggie stays behind and looks at the car. The keys are still there and she had already sacrificed some of her (precious) crystals for fuel. Maggie looks left and then right before she slips into the front seat, picking up the keys and turning on the ignition. She pretends to drive it, her hands on the steering wheel. What follows next is a complete accident and most definitely not her fault. Honestly, she had pushed the gear shift forward ever so slightly but it went fully into drive. Before Maggie knew it, the car is rolling forward and picking up speed very quickly. ]

Oh no...

[ Maggie tries to pull the gear shift back to where she put it but it snapped off entirely. Holding onto it, she felt her heart drop. Well, there is only one thing left to do.

Scream. ]

{ SAY GOODBYE TO THE 409 [A OR B] }

[ Getting involved with these sorts of things is something Maggie didn't like doing but she felt asking around wasn't anything too offensive. Her questions vary between simple to thought provoking. Maggie isn't exactly the type to use her brain due to her impulsive nature but, when she did, she could use basic logic. It's obvious that it's because of the Terrans or whatever the hell they were calling themselves. But the question is who was doing it. Maggie is honestly getting tired of it all.

The divide and dislike is super dumb so she already had a theory of who could of done it. So, she approaches the strongest person close to her. Maggie wanted to punch whoever did it, really she did, but she also values her life. It only seems logical to tell the real ass kickers her idea so they could go handle it. ]

Hey, so, I have an idea who could have done it from asking around and it's definitely anti-Terran motivated. But anyone with a few brain cells could tell that...

{ WILDCARD }

[ Throw whatever at me! ]

glitchinthesystem: (Default)

[personal profile] glitchinthesystem 2018-08-17 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
No, I reaaaally wouldn't.

[ Jaded as all get out, good sir. But, did he really want to answer this guy's questions? Honestly, what harm could it do now. ]

I was getting supplies to fucking leave this dump. Sure they may have the whole good natured and giving act down but just you wait. They'll be demanding shit of you and me next and I don't feel like being pressured today or tomorrow or ever.
enforce: (tickets to tomorrow's sunrise.)

day one

[personal profile] enforce 2018-08-17 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ As if taking a tumble out of the sky wasn't bad enough, the locals' bedside manner left much to be desired. Shouta watched for a while from the shoreline when he first meandered down from the communal living space, expression creased flat. Not only were teenagers the ones out there carving through the surf like treasure hunters sifting for jewels, but they were armed, and not the kindest in their efforts.

It's when Shouta spots a woman looking particularly out of her element that he decides to finally wade in. He's fit, but the alien pull of the tides doesn't make it easy on him. Maybe a slow approach is for the best, anyway. His clothing is in a jaunty disarray, windswept. He's armed.
]

Some welcoming committee... [ A huff as a wave breaks over his legs. ] You alright?

[ Well, as alright as anyone can be after that. ]
enforce: (carved out in another language.)

day three

[personal profile] enforce 2018-08-17 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Something tells me you're not gonna get your answers that way.

[ A voice cuts in over the threats, sure and even despite the shit situation that landed itself on their doorsteps. It's been a lot to take in, the past couple days. You sort of fell into the rhythm of the 409 or you got swept away by it, and Shouta's more the kind of person to blaze his own trail, but not without answers. In that respect, he gets what this kid is after.

But the execution — that could use some work.
]
enforce: (no continue talking really.)

crystals

[personal profile] enforce 2018-08-17 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
At least someone's having fun... sure, sure. Knock yourself out.

[ From the porch of one of the cottages, thankfully covered by an awning, Shouta sticks his arm out, basket in hand. His is empty, only because he hadn't reacted to sharp objects falling from the sky with the same enthusiasm. Still, seeing someone actually enjoying themselves in this situation isn't all that bad.

In his grasp, the empty basket catches a few crystals, even if he has no intention of hanging onto it.
]
poisonpetals: (idle)

[personal profile] poisonpetals 2018-08-17 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

[ Maggie happily takes the basket, a smile on her face. ]

This is perfect. One is for keeps and the other one can be for...whatever they need it for I really don't care.

[ She glances over at the other guy. ]

Hey, why aren't you getting any anyways? They're pretty cool.

enforce: (keep your hands steady.)

[personal profile] enforce 2018-08-17 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ Basket gone from his grasp, he stays in the relative safety of the awning, only pausing to peer up at the flashing crystals catching the light as they fall. Brow creased, he waves, probably not as noncommittal as he'd like. ]

I've had my fill of weird for the day, thanks. It's all you.

[ He can only guess things are going to get weirder, too. ]
bye_felicia: (Default)

[personal profile] bye_felicia 2018-08-17 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That clarification makes more sense, but in Victra's mind, it still presents the same problem. Why wouldn't the people here understand that they're angry and disgruntled?

Nevermind the fact that, if she lived here, Victra would have no patience for the angry and disgruntled. But she doesn't quite believe in treating others the way she wishes to be treated.

"I've always prided myself on being self-sufficient," she says. "I doubt they'd give that much in the way of difficulty."
bye_felicia: (Default)

[personal profile] bye_felicia 2018-08-17 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ "Dome like" reminds her of Tinos, which already gives her ideas. Even if he says it's not this, she doesn't quite believe him. No one trapped in a dome can be happy, not if they've developed an attitude like his. ]

I trap you in a corner. There's no escape. How do you fight back? Don't say dry wit and sarcasm.
bye_felicia: (v51)

time to say goodbye

[personal profile] bye_felicia 2018-08-17 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[ If there's anyone that looks the strongest, closest to her or not, it would be the nearly seven foot tall, golden Amazon that's currently examining blaster marks and residue on one of the destroyed walls.

She glances over with a touch of disdain at the girl. But she looks like a Green. At least there's that. Finally someone who looks like they should. Even if she probably doesn't know a video recorder from a fork. ]

Yes, and?
kanyounot: (017)

[personal profile] kanyounot 2018-08-17 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh-huh, and what's your transportation? Where do you plan to go when you get out of here?

[ Skeptical Kanan is skeptical. ]
